The Barnet Safeguarding Children Partnership

BSCP Autumn/Winter Learning Webinars

On behalf of Barnet Safeguarding Children Partnership (BSCP) I am pleased to be able to invite you to learning webinars where we will share crucial learning from Child Safeguarding Practice Reviews ( formally known as Serious Case Reviews) and national and local thematic safeguarding issues conducted over 2020/21.

The first three webinars will cover

  • Sharing learning from two separate reviews which include important safeguarding issues learnt related to Elective Home Education, sexual abuse, bereavement, neglect, domestic violence, coercive control, neglect and physical chastisement.
  • Sharing learning from Rapid Reviews (which are prior to a more wide ranging CSPR) where we will explore themes such physical abuse, multi-agency working, information sharing and fixed thinking within practice.

The dates and Teams links for these webinars are:

14th Sept 2.30pm – 4pm Teams link : Click here to join the meeting

You only need to attend one from this series as each session is the same.

The second series of webinars will cover

  • Learning from national serious case reviews focussed on teenage self-harm and suicide

  • Transitional Safeguarding – learning from a recent thematic deep dive will be shared covering key areas of practice learning aimed to support safer transitions of children and young people

  • National findings about serious and fatal cases of child maltreatment

  • Learning from health colleagues upon safeguarding children through religious practices.

The dates and Teams links for these webinars are:

11th October 12pm – 1.30pm Teams link: Click here to join the meeting

12th October 12pm – 13:30pm Teams link: Click here to join the meeting

19th October 6pm – 7.30pm Teams link: Click here to join the meeting

Again, you only need to attend one from this series as each one is the same.

There will be scope for attendees to work in groups and reflect on one’s own knowledge and practice and share their views and thoughts. We will invite you to complete a poll before the webinar asking you to reflect on your current knowledge of the topics, and you will be given a voluntary action plan to take away to enable you to consider how to embed your learning in your practice. The BSCP team will then be in touch in 6 months time to ask you to share with BSCP any examples of practice change, systems change or improved outcomes for children.

The workshops will be delivered by colleagues from across the Safeguarding Partnership. There is no need to RSVP,  just clink on the Teams link on the day in question that suits your diary and we will start promptly.

Really looking froward to sharing with you some core learning from a busy year for the BSCP. Any questions please contact me on tony.lewis@barnet.gov.uk
