Children Out of Sight

  • The Safeguarding Children Partnership wishes to shine a light upon the importance of ensuring that every child in our borough is seen, heard and accessing the appropriate services, at the right time in a manner that is fully accessible to them.
  • Our Partnership is alive to the rising national concern upon children not accessing any universal services. Lost education can lead to adverse outcomes for children and places them at risk. For families, adverse physical and mental parental health, poverty, poor housing and social isolation can trigger, intensify or be the backdrop to a family’s ability to cope, reduce their resilience and heighten risks to children. These experiences may distance children from the vital services they need.
  • On 24th Oct 2024 BSCP came together to hear from a range of Partners on a number of current safeguarding issues that we wish to shine a light on to help children be seen, and get access to the right services at the right time. Over 110 colleagues heard from a range of services . Representation was made by:
    • Elective Home Educatiion Team.
    • Young Carers
    • Private Fostering
    • Early Help
    • GP services - importance of children being registered with GPs
    • Safeguarding & Housing - recognising the crucial role housing partners play.

Slides to help your learning can be found here

Within the slides above is all the contact info you need to seek advice and support

  • We have examined serious cases nationally where it was identified that multi agency partners were well placed to have made onward referrals for further support for children, but that that was not always forthcoming. Our GP network is at the heart of a local system safeguarding children, and you will hear some important messages from our GP representative.
  • We wish to engage with Partners from all corners of the Safeguarding Partnership and seek to raise awareness of children who are not in sight of services and professionals – we hope you can join us in being mindful of these children and help spread the key messages.

Check back here through 2024/25 for more info and updates on this safeguarding topic.
